Description: This listing is for restoration service for your Transoceanic Model R7000-1 or R7000-2.These radios are high performance and rugged but they do require servicing after almost 50 years. All R7000 models will eventually have the bandswitch detent failure. I have designed a new replacement gear which solves the original design flaw and will give lasting performance. Another problem area is the electrolytic capacitors which will eventually fail with time. All vintage radios are susceptible to this problem and it requires replacement with new components. Luckily new versions of these part are readily available from multiple sources. Alignment of the RF oscillator circuits need to be adjusted to maintain dial calibration. Radio will be shipped back double boxed to continental US or Ebay international shipping hub only. The following items are covered by this service.1. Replace all 21 of the electrolytic capacitors with modern equivalent or better parts.2. Align the RF oscillator section using a precision signal generator. These radios usually leave the factory with very poor dial calibration which I will adjust to be right on.3. Replace the dial and meter lamps with LED equivalents. 10 year continuous operation lifetime.4. Replace tuning drive belt on -1 radios if required.5. Replace the bandswitch gear with a new Xometry 3D printed more durable part.6. Clean all controls, switches and circuit board contacts with DeOxit contact cleaner.7. The side panel coverings are susceptible to shrinkage or peeling. At the buyers option, I will replace the side panel covering with new marine grade black leatherette vinyl cloth. The process works as follows. Buyer purchases the service which includes the return shipping charge.Buyer is responsible for packing and shipping the radio to me.Message me for shipping instructions.Radio will be serviced and returned to buyer in 3 weeks or less. This assumes the radio is in working condition. If not, please message me with condition before purchasing since there may be additional cost and it may not be possible to repair because of parts availability. Note that this service does not cover restoration of battery box corrosion which can be done at additional cost.
