Description: This is a nice World War I French Model 1915 Adrian Infantry Helmet in very good condition. The helmet shell is with 4 small, 20mm size shallow dents around the front of the comb as would be expected of a combat used piece. The original horizon blue finish is painted over with OD brown paint. The horizon blue can be seen beneath the brown paint in the worn areas. Affixed to the front is the flaming bomb with ‘RF’ insignia for infantry units. The comb at the top is affixed tightly in place by four domed rivets. The interior is fitted with a corrugated, non-ferrous metal alloy band that fully lines the circumference. The original dark brown leather, seven finger second pattern liner is tightly in place and retains the period original drawstring. The liner exhibits light wear and darkening from actual field use but remains soft, pliable, and undamaged. The helmet is with both wire bales at the sides and holds the original leather chinstrap with metal buckle in place. The chinstrap is strong, solid, and without any weak areas. This is a complete, original, and un fooled with example in much better condition than normally encountered. It remains in very good field used condition and is as worn by the French Pilou in the trenches of the First World War. 8993
