Description: Here on offer is an early WW1 metal and celluloid matchbox cover, from The Edmonton Green Committee (London), in aid of the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund, 1914 – 1915. The front depicts the framed words: FromThe Edmonton Green CommitteeIn aid of the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund Then it also lists the names of the leading members, president, etc… Along the spine it reads: Souvenir of theGREAT WAR 1914 – 1915 Then on the back are the grouped flaps of the WW1 allied countries, such as France, Japan etc The whole matchbox cover is coated in a clear celluloid to protect the images. There is no damage to the celluloid as such, just some foxing/staining near the edges. The matchbox cover measures 2.4” (6cm) high by 1.6” (4cm) wide and is 0.9” (2.3cm) deep. It weighs 22g.
