Description: Vtg. Rare c. 1890-1919 Chinese Shekwan Region Mud Man Impressed CHINA 4.75" Ceramic/Clay statue is in good condition with minor crazing, paint bleed on beard and back of shoulder which is common with the older Shekwan Mud Men. There's a small chip on the top corner of head. The face and hands are natural/ not glazed which is correct for a older statue. Also the bottom is the natural clay with CHINA stamped/ impressed in black. See all photos for additional details. This rare Shekwan Region Mud Man statue genuinely believed to be from 1890-1919 era. They're handcrafted by artisans out of clay often having their fingerprints still visible. The arms and objects they're holding added separately. Then they're hand painted and a ceramic glaze added afterwards. This spectacular Shekwan Era statue has spectacular brilliant colors and graphics and would be truly a valued treasure for any collector of Asian cultural art.
