Description: Vintage King Kong Halloween Costume & Mask Child Large (12-14) Ben Cooper 1976 w/Box Wow, this vintage King Kong Halloween costume is in wonderful condition, considering its age. It was produced by Ben Cooper Inc in 1976 and copywritten by the Dino De Laurentiis Corporation. The mask is included, as well as the box. This costume is a children’s size Large (12-14). It is a step-in type with a tie at the back of the neck. According to the box, it will fit a child 53 to 58 inches tall. The original owner’s name is written on the front and one end of the box lid. It is also written lightly on the inside of the mask. Costume measurements: available upon request. Costume and mask condition: The mask looks great! No tears, and the original elastic piece is still attached. It still holds its shape. There is a small (about 1” diameter) sticky area on one edge, just above where the elastic connects and a few tiny areas with paint loss but they are not obvious (see the fourth photo). There are some light dark smudges on the inside, which may be from where it rested in the box against the dark costume. The costume also looks good. There is a small section at the crotch seam that has opened. There are also a few small smudges that look like something that could be cleaned with a damp cloth. I will leave this to you. (Don’t launder the costume, though, or the flame-retardant coating will be removed.) There are also some stains that only showed up under my dining room light (see the eighth and ninth pics). According to the box, the fabric complies with the U.S. Flammable Fabrics Act that was in place at the time. Box condition: The lid has some corner and edge wear. The original owner’s name is written on the front and one end. There is also an original price sticker on that same end. The other end of the lid is bent. The cellophane window is still attached except for a short section along the bottom edge. It has some scuffs. All seams of the lid and box bottom are intact. I have more great items in my eBay store.
