He died in August 1999 at the age of 79. Charlie managed NASA's Pioneer Project Office, which he established in 1962 at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA. The Pioneer Office was the first and most successful spacecraft project office ever established at Ames. During its 18 years of existence, 12 spacecraft were launched by the office, which contributed to the success of subsequent Ames' space projects, including the Galileo Probe and Lunar Prospector.Thank you for visiting our store!
