Description: Original owner’s vintage, “Bell South Mobility”, Motorola 3-watt, Leather Bag Cell Car Phone (Model # SCN 2462A), purchased new in 1995 from Bell South Mobility. CONDITION: VERY GOOD. The phone powers “On/Off” with its original power connector ("cigarette lighter adapter") when plugged into an automotive 12-volt outlet (see photographs). All of the one touch black, dial keys function and light up. Its “rubber duck” antenna folds up and down smoothly. It is missing a 1” section of rubber insulation (see photographs) . The power connector adapter and chord are in VG+ condition with no damage or cracking, retaining their original flexibility and functionality. The bag’s upgrade leather “Attache Carry Case” is soft and smooth, with no scratches or damage. The carrying handle is fully functional, with no damage or looseness. The case’s zipper works smoothly and completely. Cell Phone Dimensions: (1) Bag Closed & Zippered: Length (“Motorola” side on bag): 10.5”; Width: 7.25”; Height: 2.75”. (2) Bag Open, Both Sides Folded Out: Length: 17.0”; Width: 10.5”; Height: 1.5”. Some of the Model # SCN 2462A” Specifications / Background Information: · The SCN2462A model has a round FCN key and triangular arrow keys. It has a black and off-white display (see photographs). · Designed by Caseworks, Inc. (Chicago), the “Attache Carry Case” was the highest end bag offered by Motorola. It contains internal cardboard, making it very sturdy. Opening like a suitcase, it featured on the left side of the case, the handset, with the transceiver/battery compartment to the right. On the right side of the case was a pocket to hold user manuals (and any other papers) plus a smaller pocket below it and a tiny pocket above it. There also are two (2) black elastic loops to hold additional items and a pen holder. To close, the Attache case was folded, then zippered. · The majority of Bag Phone models operated on the AMPS network. Some late 1990’s models were dual mode AMPS/TDMA, marketed as the “Digital Concert Series”. Since mid-2009, both the AMPS and TDMA networks are extinct. Hence, the service life of all Motorola Bag Phones has ended, and they now serve as a collector item.
