So, a great choice for quick cover. Bloom cycle is Summer thru Fall, and is followed by a slow ripening green fleshed fruit, usually described as tart and strawberry like when fully ripe. Common names relate to the vibrant, orange tinged red flowers and big, hand sized, lobed leaves similar to grapes. The vivid red unique flowers attract pollinators and hummingbirds, and are a great nectar source. However, it is not a host plant for caterpillars. Leaves contain natural compounds that discourage feeding of insects. Plant in fertile, well draining soil in dappled afternoon shade. Prune often to control size.
