Description: For your consideration are 4 individual egg cups and one set of 3. All are vintage and hail from England, France, Japan, and Portugal. Volume discount applies; the more you buy, the less you will pay for each one (the set of 3 counts as 1). I will also combine shipping. Ebay's computers really don't know how to add weights and dimensions and determine the best postage rate. Feel free to ask me before or after you buy. I always check when I mail anyway and commonly issue refunds on posts like these. More detail on the egg cups. 1. Chick with egg cup back (could be a duck, I suppose). This is an Opalex figurine dating back to the early 1950s (me, too). "Opalex" is a trademark of a French company and could alternately refer to the opalescent or opaque nature of the very bright white glass, what we in the States have generally called "milk glass". "Opalex" is embossed on the bottom of the cup, which measures roughly 2" high and 2.5" in diameter. The outside is in excellent condition. There is a tiny nick -- not a chip or crack -- on the rim and a few scratches inside. 2. Chick with wavy egg. This is made in Portugal by the Fábrica Bordallo Pinheiro, which has been making ceramics since 1884. I can't give you a date on this chick who has emerged from its broken eggshell (dimensions are 2.5x3.5") but you can buy a new one for $40 at Amazon or this vintage one for less than 1/4 the price. (There is a code punched in the side of the green nest that might refer to the date.) While this egg cup model has no cracks or chips, it is crazed. 3. The Duck with the egg cup back similarly dates back to the early 1950s, but to post-war Japan. Trico in Nagoya, Japan to be exact. Porcelain, it's hand-painted (as are all these egg cups) with iridescent cold paint; everything shines except the bill and the tail. It stands 3" wide x 2.5" tall. It's in excellent condition except for some very minor and expected paint loss. 4. Three bunny-goose-chick set. Made in Japan, though the bunny cup has no mark on its bottom and a similar -- but not identical -- version has been made by Bethany Lowe. I believe these are 1990s cups, but the "JAPAN" stamps suggest they could be much older. All three are in excellent condition: no chips, scratches, cracks, or crazings. Strong colors throughout. 5. Two-cup flowered egg cup. Completing our international travels, this egg cup was made by Spode of England. It's their Gainsborough model, and the only one that a) features a graphic inside the cup, and b) can hold gigantic egg as well as normal size one. It stands 3.25" high, and the bigger cup would hold an egg of 2.5" width, compared to the more usual 2" of the other cup. While the transfer decals have held their colors well, and there are no cracks, chips, or breaks, there is crazing throughout the cups. Thanks for looking!Rick
