Vintage Greg Brown 1973 Outsider Art Encaustic Painting Abstract Naive Primitive

Description: untitled Vintage Greg Brown 1973 Outsider Art Encaustic Painting Abstract Surrealist This is a very cool early artwork by the noted Bay Area artist Greg Brown. This painting is entitled on the backside of the canvas, "Sol and Luna Killing The Dragon of Chaos." I believe this painting was created using a process known as encaustic which involves the use of pigmented waxes on canvas. This process gives this painting a very bright, rich, unique quality and look. The photographs don't completely do justice to it. I think the colors are beautiful and the composition is very nice. This painting is unframed and measures 16.75" x 20". There is a textural quality to the art which is the result of layers of wax on top of other layers. I've tried to provide some close ups of this effect. It's most notable in the breast of the characters as well as Sol and Luna themselves.
