There is room to put a sharper edge on it if you desire it that way! The forged steel section is smooth! This vintage hatchet has many years left in it! When I re-do old hammers & axes I apply a coat of "Rust-Inhibitor" to the steel! I show the product I use in the last photo! It is not part of the sale! Hatchet/Axe will ship within 24 hours! Note: To keep the leather handle in good condition all you need to do from time to time is add a thin coat of liquid polish with conditioner in it to the handle!
