Description: A very fine Deputy chief's visor hat from 1950-60's here in Springfield, Illinois. The hat is very nice - no mothing no tears - bought this at a estate sale back in the 80's. Was a local fireman from 73-95 but this DC was already retired when I went on the job. Will give the name to winning bidder /buyer. Hat has the maker mark; MAIER LAVATY CO. 227 W. VAN BUREN ST. CHICAGO, ILL (no zip code). Very well made with the "scrambled eggs" on visor gold but tarnished and gold band with each side fastened with gold pins. Nice leather sweat band and nicely weaved work between top cloth and hat base. Also nice soft "felt" brim completely surrounds hat. SIZE 7 1/8". Still has the metal reenforcing wire to keep the hat formed. hexagonal shaped top cloth. Can't go wrong for a vintage pc of firefighting history.
