Description: This is one of the 7 dresses I acquired at an estates sale. Everything in the house was vintage designer pieces from the 1970s. She cared for the dresses very well. As a result they are very well preserved considering they are 40+ years old. They are authentic & rare pieces from that time period. That being said most if not all the dresses had no size or incorrect sizing. They all require a waist no bigger than 25 inches to fit into. Some of the dresses won’t open past 34” so even my mannequin could not fit them. (Mannequin measurements are 36” 25” 34”) The dresses that did fit the mannequin fit perfectly. This dress is from a well known brand Oscar De La Renta. Oscar was trained by Cristóbal Balenciaga & Antonio del Castillo. He became international known in the 1960s for dressing many First Ladies including Jacqueline Kennedy. He made one of a kind formal wear that would contour to one’s body. The brand today is one of the top luxury designer formalwear retailers. With many know celebrities wearing their pieces on the red carpet. This piece was likely created in the late 1960s or early 1970s. It came from a local Boutique called Balliets that’s been around since 1938. They specialize in selling designer, couture, & all things luxurious. With personal assistants to service you the whole way. They would have twice a year Couture runway shows. This specific dress is a Long Black Velvet dress. With a single clasp in the back for the closure. The dress doesn’t open wider than 34”. I suspect the lining to be silk however I’m not sure. The length would go down to one’s ankles. The sizing tag says 6 but I believe it to be size 0-1. Please message me if you need more exact measurements. Once this item is sold & shipped I will not allow a return. Given its vintage & delicate. I cannot allow one to buy try one & return if it doesn't fit. So please if intending on wearing make sure it will fit your measurements.
