Description: Very nice and fully restored 1961 Harmony Stratotone “Jupiter”, the top of the line for the series. A while ago I acquired a husk with some parts and set to work hunting down the rest. Body/neck (excellent condition!), tuners, tailpiece, ALL five knobs, and the long pickguard are original. Bridge and Dearmond goldfoils are vintage and correct. I fabricated the pickup surrounds from solid tortoise plastic. They are 1-mm thick instead of 1.5 but are otherwise an excellent match. I finally found a wiring harness WITH the rotary switch, which came from a basket-case Silvertone that I am planning in the future as some sort of not-quite-original restomod. So… we’ve got everything now. Rock solid and plays great. Both pups have huge tone, and all controls work and are relatively quiet. I’ve seen various descriptions of the effects of the “blender” pot, ranging from a blend from one pup to the other with no tone changes to a sweep from bassy to trebly tone with both pups engaged. This guitar offers the latter, ranging from a twangy two-pup sound to a very bassy version. BTW, the rotary switch turns rather stiffly, but totally engages all three positions. Just don’t go slashing at it like it’s a Strat blade switch. Use a firm grip and turn it slowly. Original blueish softshell case is also in very good condition. A little scuffing inside and out, but all latches and hinges are solid. NOTE: USA regulations under the CITES convention (trade in endangered species) have finally been loosened to allow easy international shipping of vintage instruments, unless they contain BRAZILIAN r******d (Dahlbergia nigra). Unfortunately, the fretboard may be Brazilian, so this guitar cannot be shipped internationally without an costly and time-consuming permit process.UPDATE: Ebay now demands that we sellers give THIRTY DAYS for returns. Any honest buyer will know within a few days whether there is any need for a return. I no longer take returns through Ebay, but I will never "stick" another musician with a guitar.
