Description: Vintage 10 Gallon Red Wing Union Stoneware Early Birch Leaf Crock without Oval Circa 1895 - 1906Red Wing Stoneware #10 "early" Birch Leaf crock prior to the introduction of the oval logo. The size designation and birch leaves are in black. It is in great vintage condition with no cracks or hairlines. There is one shallow exterior lower side chip about 3/4" x 3/4" as shown in the photos. There are several factory glaze blemishes and imperfections and interior bubble which were normal at that time. Crocks make excellent gifts for any occasion and continue to become rare and are found being passed on as family heirlooms from generation to generation. The first two stamps to be used were the Elephant Ear and the Birch Leaf. They were stamped as single pairs or double pairs. With the use of stamps, it became much easier to identify a crock as Red Wing. Around 1906, the elephant ear and birch leaf stamps were replaced with the now-familiar red wing stamp.
