Description: The greatest album ever made. (Hyperbolic? Okay, so "European Son" never did all that much for me and I'd have left "The Black Angel Death Song" off the track list altogether, but barring that, it's a bona fide masterpiece.) To think of what we'd have lost if not for this album--undoubtedly one of the most influential in the history of rock n' roll. Would there have even been a Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Violent Femmes, Jesus and Mary Chain, Joy Division, Interpol, etc., etc.--if not for this album? (Fans are well aware of Brian Eno's famous quip: "Not a lot of people bought the album, but everyone who did started a band.") So the album's a classic, we're all in agreement--so why's it so hard to find a dope cut of the shirt? The earliest ones, however many there were, are all gone, far as I can tell. Most of the ones on the market now are bunk ass reprints, $hitty quality shirts, bananas that take up the whole goddamn front, ugh. Too big, too stiff. And I know that a lot of you have been wanting an affordable version as well, and thus here we have it. I'm constantly on the lookout for these, and you've gotta find one that's "tight," not in the bodily sense, but in the sense that if fits and feels sleekly, form-fittingly, dope-illy. This one's flawless, soft and slinky without any flare-ups or awkwardness--this band's too important for any of that. Bottom line is this: when you stroll into the bar in this puppy, and someone says, "I like you're shirt"--you know they're legit (maybe not a hookup, but probably some halfway decent conversation). Not a lot of people will be rocking this one at the dive bar; but everyone who is, you can bet, will be someone worth meeting. Influentially dope!
