She now serves as a Musem Ship. During her life, "Mighty Mac" underwent a number of overhauls, to modernize her equipment, and to accomodate her changing missions. After extensive research, we determined that there were five primary configurations to the ship. These were used to produce these 5 drawings. The following time frames are represented in the drawings - 1944 - 1967 1967 - 1971 1971 - 1988 1988 - 1999 1999 - 2006 The drawings were composed by noted naval and aviation artist George Bieda, a retired US Navy Captain. Mr. Bieda uses his experience and knowledge of ships and aircraft, and numerous reference materials to portray the subject matter as accurately as possible. Each print has its own unique number. The image area of the print is 11” X 15” and is printed on a 12” X 16.5” sheet. The print fits nicely into a 16” X 20” frame, using a 2 ½” mat. The prints are produced on high-quality giclee printers with highly fade-resistant inks (guaranteed for a minimum of 75 years) on heavy weight, acid-free, archival paper stock.
