Todsen Type 2 (R-6 scarcity rating) The community of San Miguel del Bado is one of the historic settlements of the Hispanic homeland of New Mexico. Founded in 1794 by Genizaros, San Miguel was a large community in 1844 when it served as county seat for the vast and newly created San Miguel County. The post office opened in 1851 but operated intermittenly in later years before closing in 1910 with mail service taken up by nearby Riberia (The sender of this postal card notes his return address as such).
