Sent to France in 1916 they were attached to the 9th Scottish Division. They saw hard fighting during the Somme offensive in 1916 incl the battles of Delville Wood & Butte de Warlencourt. During 1917 they fought at Arras and Cambrai. In 1918 they were in the Spring retreat, the counter-offensive incl the battle of Lys and the summer offensive.
