Description: Type 6 woodbottom planes were produced from 1874 to 1884, prior to the introduction of the lateral adjustment lever. This 140+ year-old example is in very good condition and has all original and proper parts, lightly cleaned but not refinished or repainted. Typical scuffs, dings, and scratches but no significant damage. The 1 3/4" wide blade is original and still nearly full length at 7" long. It has an early "J" trademark (Stanley Rule & Level Co.) L. Bailey's patents are on the chip breaker (1867) and recessed brass adjusting nut (1858, 1867). The Eagle Trademark and #23 are stamped on the front.
