Description: A large and impressive pair of Borzoi dogs at a run and leaping over tree stumps from the well known porcelain manufactory Scheibe Alsbach. This is the common reference to A.W. Fr. Kister Porcelain Company from Scheibe Alsbach, East Germany. This huge porcelain figurine measures 14 1/2" long by 9 3/8" tall. It is a heavy and substantial piece. Although this figurine comes in an undecorated version, this one is factory decorated and fully hallmarked, dating production to between 1900 and 1972. The underbase is also impressed with the numbers 5287 over the number 3. I purchased it at an antique show in 1998 and have owned it ever since, displayed behind glass. It is a magnificent piece and in perfect condition. Factory mold shrinkage line (see last photo). Small black coal flecks in glaze from old coal fired kiln. No repairs or restorations. Original vintage condition. Please enlarge and examine all photos carefully as they are considered part of the description. We also have several other worthy Borzoi porcelain figurines for sale among our other listings and are happy to combine shipping when possible.I have 40+ years experience in buying and selling dog antiques and collectibles and I am an advanced collector of the subject. This piece is from my personal collection.
