It was built in 1847 as a circular building housing a railway turntable, became a warehouse, and converted into a theatre in 1964. In 2008 the Royal Shakespeare started to use the Roundhouse as its London venue and rearranged the performing space to match the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. It has been used, spasmodically, by RSC since then.The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is a theatre company based in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England.
