Description: RARE WWII German Death Card for 55 YEAR OLD Navy Sailor, VETERAN OF WWI, KIA During AIR ATTACK in Libau (Lettand)DESCRIPTION: Very unusual original WWII German Death card for a Kriegsmarine (Navy) matrosen KIA during an air attack in Lettland. He was 55 years old when he died, QUITE OLD FOR AN ACTIVE WARRIOR. Not surprisingly given his age, HE WAS A VETERAN OF WWI !!! Specifically, "Matrose Christian Datz, VETERAN OF THE 1914/18 WAR, who died a hero's death on Dec. 14, 1944, aged 55, as a result of an air attack in Libau (Lettland)." Nice photo in civilian clothes. Possibly too late an enlistment in the war to have a picture in uniform?Nice original way to put a story, life, and face to a scarce soldier, who would otherwise be only a forgotten statistic. JUST THINK, IN THE MILITARY AT AGE 55!!!This is in excellent condition overall.I follow ebay's rules strictly, and no bids will be accepted from Germany, Austria, or any other places where it is unlawful to ship to.I try to collect and sell only unique and higher quality WWII and WWI soldier memorial cards rather than the more common ones usually seen on ebay. Please see my auction list for other unusual ones!! SHIPPING TERMS:Buyer pays $5.00 shipping in the US, $8.50 outside, reduced by multiple purchases.
