Description: For sale is a rare chess set: The Crusades from Summit Collections. The set features intricately designed pieces that depict the historical events of The Crusades. It is made of high-quality resin material and comes with an open box. This is a very rare set among the Summit Collection, number 6255 (it's hard to even find mention of it online). It features the Crusaders versus the Muslims - featuring Richard I The Lion Heart versus Saladin as Kings, Queen Berengaria of Navarre and Saladin's wife as Queens, Pope Gregory VIII vs a Caliph as bishops, and more. The pieces are exquisitely detailed and look absolutely fantastic. I am fairly certain this set has never been played. The tape seal was broken, but some of the pieces appear to have never been removed (perfect impressions in the foam, etc). While I cannot be sure, in my opinion the original owner looked at the pieces but never played them. I have debated whether to take them all out for photos but will leave it for sale like this for a bit before I do - I think the in box photos are impressive by themselves. The box is in overall excellent condition with some basic shelf wear, and a very slight musty odor if you lean in very close (not overwhelming). The Kings appear to be about 3.25 in tall. I did not remove them to measure them. This unique chess set is perfect for avid collectors and enthusiasts of historical and themed chess sets.
