Description: Offered for sale is a very hard to find Brown patent Parker coffee mill. This old mill is all original with no restoration and appears to be in original paint. It even retains its original hook screwed to the front of the bottom board. This is one of the more difficult Parker coffee mills to find and even harder with its unusual sliding front door and hook present. The shape has always reminded me of a bee skep. I don't know what the attached hook on the front board was for. Perhaps to put a chain through? The design of this mill is unique and has a lot of character. The grind adjustment is done by a screw on the underside of the mill. The door has "Pat Feb 60 May 68 Jul 70" cast into the iron door. Charles W. Brown was from Boston, MA, and the Charles Parker Co. was from Meriden, Conn. Photos 17-21 show an article written about the Brown patent Parker mill in the Association of Coffee Mill Enthusiasts' (ACME) Grinder Finder Spring (April) 2012 Issue No. 71 pages 19 -21. Photo 22 shows the description of the Brown patent Parker mill in Antique Coffee Grinders: American, English, and European by White and Sivonda page 61. Photo 16 shows how the mill compares in size to other small American cast iron tabletop coffee mills from my personal collection. From the bottom of the wood base to the top of the wooden knob on the handle is about 7.5 inches. The cast iron portion of the mill from the bottom of its base to the top of the hopper is approximately 4.75 inches. The hopper has a diameter of around 4 inches, and the wood base is approximately 5 inches squared. This rare Parker mill will be double boxed for safe delivery and will have signature confirmation.
