As far as the presentation itself is concerned, the Magician takes his audience on a journey to the days of his youth, when he and a few friends took a midnight tour of a deserted haunted house. His friends thought it would be funny to tie him up and leave him there overnight. A few volunteers from the audience tie up the performer. The drapes on the curtained cabinet are closed and then all hell breaks loose. One or more tambourines are heard to play, a bell rings, the instruments fly through the air, etc. The spirits in the old house cause quite a pandemonium. The curtains may be parted, and there sits the Magician, still securely tied. All the usual ghostly and séance antics can be applied to this cabinet test. Ropes can be tied up in knots, messages appear on a blank slate, a starting pistol is fired, heavy chains heard to move, etc. At the finale, a rose that has been in a vase on a small side table is found between the performer’s teeth. Yet the performer is still secured. Could it be the work of spirits? We’re not telling (just yet)!
