(HISTORY): Mined in 1970's by (Ruland Officer, Casey Officer, & Helene Officer)Material from the Officer Estate of Oregon Many people tempted fate by digging into the bank without bringing down the overhang as that would be many hours to a whole day of shoveling. The day came when the loose overhanging bank started to slide, quickly collapsed, and a Rockhound was buried alive beneath hundreds of pounds of rock and dirt. I believe the guy was Tom Y*** from Portland, and luckily he was not alone, as his friend dug him out and saved his life! In 1984 the Federal Government deemed this site to be too dangerous; they brought in large equipment to fill and cover up the "White Rock Bed" making it permanently off limits by declaring it Wilderness Area in the Ochoco National Forest and no longer accessible publicly/privately.. (SHIPPING / HANDLING ): I prefer to use Small Flat Rate Shipping as the box serves multiple purposes: A) Extra-Protection for slabs from being broken during the rough shipping process at distribution centers.B) Extra-Protection for slabs when delivered-if a padded envelope is used, these can be crammed into a mailbox breaking the slab.C) Order arrives faster than regular 1st Class Package Shipping.D) The order is Insured - So USPS handles the order with more care!E) The order has Tracking.. (COMBINED SHIPPING DISCOUNTS): (If Multiple Auctions are purchased, read below to save money with combined shipping)This order is eligible for "Combined S&H of $1.00" if added to an order that is classified as a "MAIN AUCTION".MAIN AUCTION = An auction being shipped in a "Small/Medium Flat Rate Box". (COMBINED S&H FOR THIS ORDER) If multiple auctions are purchased, the auction with the Highest Shipping Charge will be considered the "Main Auction" and the other auctions that are eligible for Combined S&H will be packaged with that order for the Combined S&H Fee stated on each of those auctions. The shipping method chosen for the "Main Auction" must at least be a "Small/Envelope Flat Rate" Shipping Box, and as long as all the orders will fit into that box it can be used, but if it isn't large enough then the main auction must choose a "Medium Flat Rate" or a "Large Flat Rate" Shipping Box. If you purchase multiple orders and want the orders combined; make sure you send me a message with the orders or send me a private message at the time of ordering, and I will do so. I imagine Ebay will charge you a shipping fee on each order, but after we figure out the Total Shipping and Handling charges, you will be refunded any extra amount that was paid.
