Description: Artist: Peter M. CohenFrame Size: 50.75” x 26.75"Visible Artwork Size: 47 3/8” x 23 3/8"Medium: oil on board This is one of the most fascinating paintings I have ever purchased. The style is interesting, and it’s so big that there’s lots of different things to look at. The painter is based out of New York, so I’m guessing this is a scene from the northeast or perhaps a made up scene based on something they saw. There are rays of light coming from the sunset, plus different buildings, boats tied to the docks, and a countryside in the background. Despite how fantastic the painting is, I was unable to find any info about the artist. I put 24x48 in the title, but technically it’s about 1/4” less than that on each side. It was painted on a huge artist board that is not cut exactly evenly on the edges. There are some areas where the frame barely covers the edge. The frame is made in Italy out of wood with a gilt finish. It shows minor wear. The painting is in pretty good shape, especially for it’s size and age. There are a few chips in the paint near the bottom of the docks, pointed out in a photo with an arrow. There are some white lines in the middle right of the painting which might look like scratches, but it’s actually paint. The lines go above and below the other colors. There are some other white paint marks around the edge which indicate this may have been designed for a frame just a bit smaller than this one.
