Description: 1813/1814 German Napoleonic War Medal Very heavily worn and corroded. Friedrich Wilhelm III cypher is visible on the reverse. The line between 1813 and 1814 is faintly visible and the number 18 above the line can be made out under certain lighting Prussian Campaign Medal - In bronze, the medal would have impressed on the rim "AUS EROBERTEM GESCHUETZ" but the lettering is nearly all gone This is a War Service Medal for Prussian veterans who fought against Napoleon during the years 1813 to 1814. The medals were created from captured, melted-down, French cannons. Information confirming the fact was etched around its edges. The obverse displayed König Friedrich Wilhelm III’s royal cypher. He led Prussia through this very difficult time. [Under his auspices, the Iron Cross was created in two classes and awarded to enlisted men, NCO’s, and officers]. The medal’s reverse displays the years “1813” and “1814.” These are getting harder and harder to locate. No ribbon comes with this example. FREE SHIPPING TO US AND CANADA.
