This region is known for a famous pilgrim destination of Hindu religion called Jagannath Puri. Pure Silk FabricArtist uses pure 2 types of fabric as base depending on the intended intricacy of the work. one is silk fabric bleached with tamarind paste. Second is Tusser silk is bleached with Sago paste over a plywood base, this stiffens the fabric over plywood so that artist can do very intricate work. Once the work done, the cloth is peeled off from the plywood base. These processes make the fabric archival in nature and resistant to organic decay. Handmade Organic ColorColors are handmade using organic ingredients and is a skill that is learned and improvised over generations. Again most of the colors are made using local natural resources available in the region. Handmade BrushEach piece of work is worked upon with fine strokes using handmade brush.
