I often come across brittle, yellow, fragile, folded and fading issues of the Memphis Final/Special Edition newspapers reporting on these Elvis Presley "Special Editions" from August of 1977. It not uncommon to even come across reprints. About a year ago I came across these Memphis Commercial Appeal Final Editions in their original shipping boxes where they had been stored for almost 47 years! There is just enough aging that speaks to their authenticity, but since they were stored in a climate-controlled environment they are in incredible condition! I spent countless hours sifting through the Commercial Appeal archives. I have had former employees of the Commercial Appeal as well as professional printers examine these. I even found some of the original printing plates used to produce these papers at the scrap yard who had the contract with the Memphis Publishing Company in 1977!
