Complete with a built-in microphone and a 10-hour lifetime on the rechargeable battery, we were impressed by the clarity as well as its durability. Priced at $129.95 and available in two different color combinations, it can be safely submersed in three feet of water for up to 30 minutes, but we didn’t see the point of trying to sink it. Besides, wouldn’t it be harder to hear your tunes if the speaker was three feet under water? It measures approximately 9.6 inches wide by 5.3 inches tall by 2 inches deep. Simply put, it’s large enough to produce great sound quality yet small enough to easily store on your boat. With the ability to stream music from a Bluetooth-enabled device at distances of up to 33 ft (10 m) and the inclusion of a built in waterproof microphone, users can control music playback and answer calls while the wirelessly connected device stays at a safe distance from potential splashes. NYNE says the unit is also shock resistant and will withstand "drops and everyday abuse," while a 3.5 mm AUX input allows connection of non-Bluetooth devices. The unit is powered by a 2,200-mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery, providing it with what the company says is close to 10 watts of power and up to 10 hours of playtime. NYNE says the Aqua will be available in grey and blue from the second quarter of 2014, with a MSRP of US$129.95.
