After the end of the 2022 F1 season in Abu Dhabi, attention turned to post season test session at the Yas Marina circuit, which included the young driver test for potential next generation F1 drivers to cut their teeth. One of them was the recently announced Australian driver Oscar Piastri, signed as a replacement for another outgoing Australian, Daniel Ricciardo, on the back of the Alpine signing saga which upset Piastri. He finished the session 14th of the 24 drivers that took part in the test, largely as a result of a stoppage with his MCL36 car in the morning session prior to his debut in 2023 for the team. The model features Oscar's colourful McLaren-Mercedes MCL36 as it ran at the post-seasion 2022 Abu Dhabi Test Session. It is a CK Modelcars and Paddock Legends edition exclusive to both German model retailers and is a limited edition of 222 pieces worldwide. It also comes with factory applied VUSE vape branding, and is a specially designed art style livery from Lebanese artist Anna Tangles, primarily used for the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix a few days prior. Prior to the Monaco GP 2023 livery model release, sponsors VUSE and VELO were omitted from Minichamps' models due to their licensing agreement with McLaren.
