This antique Seto-ware porcelain tea set from the Meiji Period (1868-1912) features the mark of Kato Shubei II (1848-1903) and includes a footed teapot with lid, a footed sugar dish with lid, and a footed creamer. Crafted from fine, bright white porcelain with intricate blue hand-painted phoenix birds and intertwined vines, this set exemplifies the artistry of Meiji-era Japan. The sculpted feet are shaped like Karako, or Chinese-style children. Condition & Measurements:Teapot: Measures approximately 6" wide including the spout and 4" tall. It has five sculpted Karako feet. The spout has minor chipping, and the handle may not be original to the set, though it complements the piece well.Creamer: Measures approximately 5" wide including the spout and handle, and 3" tall. It has four sculpted feet, with minor chipping on the spout.Sugar Dish: Measures approximately 5.5" wide including the handles and 3.75" tall, with five sculpted feet.
