"Many Voices," ca. 1890s hymnal, well-worn condition

Description: This is an original ca. 1890s hardcover printing of "Many Voices," or "Carmina Sanctorum, Evangelistic Edition," published by A. S. Barnes & Co. as part of its "Songs of Praise" series. Over 500 hymns and tunes are found here, followed by indexes for the hymns and 84 scripture readings, or "lessons." Since the title page is missing, the approximate date of printing is deduced from the latest dates of the hymns, the 1886 copyright date on the "Scripture Readings" title page, and the "marriage of 1790 with 1890" line in the preface Overall, the copy being offered saw a LOT of use and is in rough, well-worn condition, still quite suitable as a hymnal but definitely NOT for any collector who places importance on condition. As you'll see in my first three photos, the covers have extensive wear, with a lot of wrinkles, stains, scuffs, and rubbing/fraying along the edges. Inside, the binding is reasonably strong but is a little stiff and does have some weaker spots, especially where the covers attach to it; in these areas, the covers are rather loosely attached, and some splitting occurs, and this can be seen in my 4th and final photos. Notice in my 4th photo that the first few pages inside the front cover--including the title page--are detached and missing (another blank page near the back cover is also missing after having been torn out--see my 14th photo). Also, the pages typically have significant edge wear, including chipping and tearing, and many pages have wrinkles and/or creases, along with some instances of writing and marking. The largest tears occur along the bottom edges on the first three sheets that remain in the hymnal; see this in my 5th and 6th photos.
