LIONEL 2167 W S O GUAGE FREIGHT TRAIN SET

Description: UP FOR AUCTION :TRUE ATTIC FIND !! 1950 51 LIONEL 2167WS freight set . PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION This Lionel set is as found in the attic of an old house renovation .This set is in very good condition . With the original box and individual train boxes . The boxes have flaps missing or partly affixed as these are very old as found , with the locomotive and tender boxes looking like the best ones ,but all are pretty good for their age .The main box is in very very poor condition , but has clues to the owners name ,and other cool stuff like where its bought from " WESTERN AUTO PARTS ".A lionel 1033 transformer comes with the set . Included are O gauge track sections with 8 curves and 9 straights in only average condition , no rust , but need cleaned up . The box has the original owners name in pencil but I cannot make it out .All very interesting and neat stuff though ! The first item is the 681 turbine in super nice condition , no scratches or any damage at all I can see ,looks very nice ,and runs very smoothly . e unit works good and this 681 smokes like crazy ! Smoke unit has been converted from pellet type due to gunked up smoke unit from pellets . It now uses the liquid smoke and really puts out the smoke ! The locomotive ( besides lubrication and smoke unit refit ), appears to be in all very clean original condition as found as far as I am able to tell . Next is the 2671W whistle tender in original condition , no rear marker lense on this version . It has had the roller pickup wires replaced due to the original wires all cracked . Lionel flexwire has been used to effect the repair . Whistle works , It needs "run in time" due to long term storage ,and has only been tested to insure the set operates well .whistle tender makes no crackling or scrapy objectionable noise .The ATSF boxcar 3464 with jumping man ,is in nice condition as are all the cars . Jumping man mechanism looks to be fine , NOW ..the boxcar has a couple SMALL paint scuffs , one at the end of the car there is a spot where the orange has been scuffed and on the top end . Then under the boxcar door only on one side ,located on the metal strip,are two small tiny rust spots and that is it , kind of weird to me ,but otherwise no other rust or any issues noticed . The undersides of all the cars , the frames look like new right out of the boxes . The red NYC gondola 6462 is very nice ,looks very good , nice paint and lettering . The caboose 6457 is very nice ,ladders all intact as are brake wheels on all the cars , the livery lettering on one side of caboose might be worn slightly . Caboose lights up nice . The 1033 needs a new cord immediately before use and has NOT been tested . looks good visually ,handles are tight and move properly no looseness . Ultimately this is a great attic find and will add a nice set to the buyers collection . NOTE: All condition of , and operation of , this train set including the above statements above are true to the best of my knowledge .train does operate well on my test layout . I AM NOT CERTAIN MYSELF AS TO WHAT WOULD BE THE PROPER RATING DUE TO THE ORIGINAL BOX CONDITION , OR THE TRAIN BOXES WITH FLAP ISSUES , OR THE 1033 AND THE CORD ISSUE .
