Description: Per Wikipedia, Blue is the fourth studio album by the Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, released on June 22, 1971, by Reprise Records. Written and produced entirely by Mitchell, it was recorded in 1971 at A&M Studios in Hollywood, California. Created just after her breakup with Graham Nash and during an intense relationship with James Taylor, Blue explores various facets of relationships from love on "A Case of You" to insecurity on "This Flight Tonight". The songs feature simple accompaniments on piano, guitar and Appalachian dulcimer. The album peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200. Retrospectively, Blue has been widely regarded by music critics as one of the greatest albums of all time; the cohesion of Mitchell's songwriting, compositions and vocals are frequent areas of praise. In January 2000, The New York Times chose Blue as one of the 25 albums that represented "turning points and pinnacles in 20th-century popular music". In 2020, Blue was rated the third greatest album of all time in Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time", the highest entry by a female artist. The album was a commercial success. In the US, the album peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was later certified platinum for sales over a million copies. The single "Carey" reached number 93 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2021, Blue peaked at number 1 on iTunes, 50 years to the day after its release. The album up for bid is a repress by Reprise Records of the 1971 release and was manufactured by Goldisc Recording Products, Inc. The album consists of 10 tracks with a run time of 36+ minutes. The cover is Vg/Vg+ with only light wear along the edges and corners. There is mild disc wear on the back cover. The interior covers of this gatefold album are in VG+ condition and contain track listing along with lyrics and production credits. The paper inner sleeve is original, intact and in VG+ condition. The recording has been cleaned, tested and recorded using Audacity. The album is free of skips and there is no background noise, even in the quiet spaces between tracks. The sound is flawless and the record surfaces are glossy and show very few signs of wear. This is an EX recording and showcases Joni Mitchell at the height of her “folk rock” period. On examining the liner notes, I see that she had an excellent group of backing musicians including James Taylor, Stephen Stills, as well as, great session artists in Russ Kunkel and Sneaky Pete Kleinow. This is an “audiophile” quality album. I always clean, listen and test every record I list on EBAY. I do this in insure that I can give as accurate a description for each album I list. I also try to follow the Goldmine standards on grading records. I do this as a service to the buyer, as well as, to maintain my own reputation.
