Description: Japanese Glass Float Fishing Buoy Made from recycled glass, Japanese blown glass floats were used in the fishing industry to help keep fishing nets, longlines, or droplines from sinking to the bottom of the sea. Replaced by aluminum and lightweight plastics and foam, these buoys are now often used as decoration. This small float is a clear blue color with natural bubbles and ripples from the glass-blowing process. It has a thick nub on the bottom where the ball was sealed before cooling. This ukidama is also secured in a white and blue rope net. Light blue Glass, rope C1940 Item weight: 67 grams Packed weight: 367 grams Approx. 7 cm long x 7 cm wide Good condition considering age.
