Signet Books. 1958. **I'm gonna start this description with a bold statement: This is perhaps the newest looking copy and closest to what it would have looked like right off the press in '58. There is so little if any tanning or fading to the cover. Like none. In a time where everyone smoked, this is a book unicorn. Yes it's a little heavy in the red stain but overall it's amazing. And the heavy red stain screams to me the first few books off the assembly line kinda vibe. But that's up to you if you feel the same. As a Kerouac collector I've seen hundreds of these but this one is different. It looks almost new. It came out of a Kerouac collection I purchased a while back that had everything in it. But when I saw this I was actually kinda awe struck. So if you see the price and are kinda wondering why it's a little high. Books are like comics and the condition is everything. Collectors want books that look frozen in time. This is one of those books. Very rare nearly new condition. Condition. Like New Minus/Like New. As above. A truly exceptional example. The page edge red stain is a little heavy. I get that. Blead a little as you can see and a bit on pages obviously. But the rest of the book kinda overules that imperfection. As I've said before, it has a first few of the assembly line vibe. The glossiness of the covers are great. Hard to catch in a photo but you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it in person. Very little rubbing. Meaning it was put on a shelf and left for decades. The top right corner have a little bit of bumping and a barely visible crease. (See photo). A couple tiny bumps bottom cover edge (see photo). Overall, as said before. The Newest looking copy of this edition I've ever seen. Please see photos for complete condition.
