Description: IGOR GORIN PORTRAIT Vintage, 5" x 7", sepia, double weight, matte Signed: "Sincerely Charles, I Gorin" Condition: very good Igor Gorin was an Austrian-born baritone and music teacher; became an American citizen in 1939.Began his career in the U.S. at Radio City Music Hall in New York, where he was billed as a "Viennese baritone". He was the first to perform composer Albert Hay Malotte's setting of "The Lord's Prayer" - which was to become Gorin's most popular number. He appeared in Broadway Melody of 1938 singing the "Toreador Song" from Carmen, sang in 1963 opposite Beverly Sills with the New York City Opera, made a one-guest appearance at the Metropolitan Opera in LaTraviata in 1964. For reasons of declining health, he retired from the concert stage in 1966 and became a Professor of Music at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
