Description: MEASURES:Height: 11,81 inch; Widht: 12,2 inch; Depth 9,06 inch CONDITIONS:Excellent general condition. Item description:Wonderful, spectacular sculpture in stoneware or terracotta slightly softened with kaolin, depicting a maternity of elepants, made by the famous ceramist of Neapolitan origins, but working in Milan, Guido Cacciapuoti, signed on the base with a handmade signature with nib directly onto the ceramic mixture by the artist and with "Made in Italy" place of production. Datable to the first decades of the 20th century, around 1920-1930.Useful information for the evaluation of the object:Just below this description, we have placed photos of a large single elepant, similar in artistic quality, but larger, listed, at the Cambi auction, at €4.000-4.500 to give an idea of the value of the Cacciapuoti elepants, one of the animal subjects rarest, most appreciated and valued among ones created by the artist. Then we posted photos of some auction results of the artist's ceramic sculptures, ranging from €150-200 for the smallest ones up to €3.500 for the largest sculptures, among which there is another elepant maternity, slightly larger than ours but not as large as the single elephant from before, listed at €2,300-2,500 as the starting price that could easily rise during the progress of the auction. We also put the photo with sculptures similar in size, again by Guido Cacciapuoti, all depicting pairs of animals or similar maternities with different animals, all offered on 1stDibs from €3,500 up to requests of as much as €5,500, to give an idea of the importance and of the value of this type of sculpture. Finally, the photo of the highest auction result achieved by Guido Cacciapuoti, a pair of scalars with a large wooden base which reached the remarkable sum of 22,800 (including expenses).Final thoughts on the subject:In particular, this sculpture is of very high plastic quality, very rare, with a wonderful ancient patina, a piece of great desirability among collectors of Cacciapuoti and animals in general. The skin of the elepants rich in folds typical of these animals, the snouts, and the large ears, the much darker skin on the lower part of the legs, all worked by hand and finished with burin and gouges, a piece of rare beauty. The dimensions are important, the sculpture is very large, on a piece of furniture I can guarantee you that it makes an impression. A real treat for art lovers and collectors.Information on artist and/or manufacturer:Guido Cacciapuoti, born in Naples on 11 August 1892, belongs to an ancient family of majolica makers from which he learned the secrets of ceramic art. In 1927 he founded "Grès e ceramiche d'arte" in Milan. A very talented modeller, he stands out for his beautiful animal sculptures. The factory immediately enjoyed great success and became famous for the realistic animal sculptures created by Guido Cacciapuoti who died in 1953, now considered one of the most important Italian ceramists of the first half of the 20th century. In the last photo we have put biographical information on the artist for those who want to learn more, with some of the brands used, including ours. For each object there may be multiple advertisements in different countries: USA, Italy, France, United Kingdom, etc. Any price differences are due only to changes in the exchange rate of the various currencies between when we made the advertisement and when you see it. SHIPPING WORLDWIDE - RETURN ALWAYS ACCEPTEDThe cost of packaging is also calculated in the shipping cost, and everything has increased by 19% because both ebay and paypal also take fees on the shipping cost. OUR SHIPMENTS:.Our shipments cost a little more than the average, but they are all shipments with professional packaging. Double box with a lot of bubble wrap around the object and a lot of soft material in the large cavities on all sides between the two boxes. This means that the package is much larger and heavier and therefore the cost of shipping increases, not to mention all the work necessary to carry out a similar packaging and the cost of the various materials used...
