Description: For your consideration is a French Sword Bayonet manufactured for the M1874 Gras Rifle. The sword with scabbard is 26” long. The bayonet only is 25.25”. The scabbard only is 21” long. The bayonet and scabbard do not have matching serial numbers. The spine is marked M re d’ Armes de St Etienne – Juillet 1877 (July 1877). The condition is nice with great patina. The bayonet blade is clean and scabbard retains 90 percent of it's original bluing. The press stud works. This is a great piece over a 140 years old.
