Description: Coronet Limoges 7 3/4" Plate Hand Painted Pink Roses w/Green Gold 1908-1914 HTF Elegant Decorative 7 3/4" PLATE from CORONET (George Borgfeldt) Limoges, France, HAND PAINTED by a Talented Artist, Beautiful Large Classy CABBAGE ROSES of PINK & MAGENTA w/GREEN LEAVES, WIDE GOLD on Scalloped Rim, from potter Paul Maurice Mavaleix, production time period circa 1908-1914 DESCRIPTION: This plate was designed in a very classic pattern with hand painted pink & magenta roses with large blooms nestled in green leaves by a talented artist. The overall quality of the design is quite professional. The blooms are set on the background of the high white porcelain with a very wide band of dark green next to the wide gold on the scalloped rim. There are yellow washes scattered among the roses to give additional color to the painting. The back of the plate is the high white of the porcelain. CONDITION: While this plate is classified as used, its condition is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. There is no wear to the paint or gold. See the photos. DIMENSIONS: The plate has a diameter of 7 3/4" and a height of 1". HISTORY/MARKS: George Borgfeldt operated a New York importing company specializing in high end decorated porcelain from Limoges, France and Bavaria, Germany. Borgfeldt established art studios in both France and Germany. The French Studio trademarked Coronet was located in Paris, but the white ware for this plate was manufactured in Limoges by the porcelain factory Paul Maurice Mavaleix. Mary Frank Gaston in Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition, refers to the decorator mark on this plate as mark #1 and dates it to 1906-1920. It also has the underglaze maker mark #1 from Paul Maurice Mavaleix used in the 1908-1914 time period. This limits the plate's production to the time period 1908-1914.
