Description: As of May 11, 1940 Continental Airlines was authorized to provide additional and alternative service between Albuquerque and El Paso, flying a triangular route from El Paso eastward to Hobbs and then westward by Roswell to Albuquerque, and by reverse route on the southbound flight. This cover was carried on the inaugural Air Mail Route 29 flight from Carlsbad, New Mexico to El Paso, Texas (where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Contract Air Mail Flights (CAM) section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 12S25.Albert Brown, a noted air mail historian, prepared the cover. Continental Airlines and United Airlines merged in an $8.5 billion all-stock merger of equals on October 1, 2010.
