Description: ANTIQUE ENGLISH SAW - TAYLOR 1830’S I started collecting saws during the 1980’s to use in my school shop classes. This led to me studying their history and putting together a collection of rarer older hand saws. As I am not getting any younger I thought it best to start selling some of my old tools to a younger generation. I will currently offer some of my English handsaws that I was lucky to find many years ago. Here is an early British saw – stamped “ TAYLOR” and under it can barely make out German Steel if I am not mistaken. Also can see 2-3 stamped crowns. I did see in Barlows saw book a close maker mark for Taylor referred to the age of 1830. This saw has a well rounded toe and the missing nib would have been placed back about 3” from toe. The early beech wood handle has split nuts with a blank medallion. Saw in good condition I only cleaned around the stamps to reveal makers marks and crowns. My thought was this could be a saw from Taylor Bros. before the brothers formed partnership. But other Taylor saw makers of early age also noted. I have recently been selling many tools from my collection in fine condition to woodworkers who have emailed me with compliments on the quality of the tools and their ready to use condition. I am a retired shop teacher, woodworker, and tool collector for over 25 years. I am a long time active member of many antique tool organizations including EAIA, Mid-West & CRAFTS of NJ. I was President of CRAFTS for over 10 years. I know antique hand tools and use them in my shop every day. I use many pictures as they are worth a thousand words and count on them as part of my description. So look them over for all the little details they reveal. I have been selling antique tools continuously on eBay since 1998 and enjoy the friendship of my buyers.
