Description: This stunning Belleek Willets Mug was made in the New Jersey factory between 1882 to 1912. It is made of very fine thin opaque porcelain. When tapped gently with the fingernail it rings like a bell. The hand painted surface is exquisitely rendered with the use of subtle shades of green and purple. The most unusual gilt handle is shaped like a dragon with arching back and long curving tail. The four feet of the dragon appear to be grasping the mug and the dragon's head looks about to bite into one of the grapes. It is stamped on the base with the American Belleek Willets porcelain mark. There is no damage to the mug, no cracks, chips or crazing. The painting looks like it just came out of the artist's studio. A very beautiful mug that would be a showpiece in any collection or a thoughtful gift for the mug collector. Approximately 5.75 inches high, 3.75 inches across the base and 3" across the top.
