Description: This in a rare antique Albert / Albertina sterling watch chain w. screw lock and buttonhole T-bar with a built in watch key. The Albertina was worn by ladies. Men wore the Albert. It is unclear which this piece is as Albertina's were ornate with tassels and men's watch chains were not. The T-bar would attached to a buttonhole and the other end was hooked to a pocket watch and secured with a screw at the base of the hook. The Albert/Albertina measures 13 1/2 in (34.5cm) long and weighs 36 grams. The fogs measure 1 in (2.5cm) long and 5/8 in (1.5cm) wide. The hallmarks on both ends of this piece are not legible, but are present. This piece is believed to be sterling as that was the standard for these items. This piece has two fobs that slide easily along the 4 foxtail chains. The T-bar has a built in watch key. The ball holding the chains secure on one end has been pinched to repair and secure the chains at one time. The chains re completely intact, secure, and lay flat and parallel. The sliding fobs are in very good condition and slide very easily. This is believed to be a rare and collectible antique from the mid 1800s. In very good antique condition.
