This African Nkisi power figure is adorned with three fetish bundles, a few metal nails, metal sheeting and a woven fabric and mud neck binding. These Congolese Songye power fetish figures were believed to gained their power not from the wood carver but from the Nganga, or spiritual leader who activated them. Their carving was considered secondary to their power.
