Description: For sale is an original 19th century English writing lap desk. It is made of burled walnut veneer with hand tufted satin lined interior and includes a removable compartmental tray with storage underneath. The brass button releases the inner spring loaded catch in the lower compartment to reveal the writing desk complete with a brass topped ink bottle, original tooled leather compartment covers, and additional compartments under the pen holder and miscellaneous cubby. Both leather surface writing slope sections are hinged with storage underneath for writing needs. The surface has very light wear and has stress cracks on the top and right side of the exterior box as well as the top of the writing compartment. The brass plaque on the top is not monogrammed. It measures 15 1/2" wide, 11 1/8" deep, and 7 1/8" high.
