This is a Rare Antique 19th Century Model 1860 "U.S. Civil War M1860 Staff and Field Officer's Sword" Victorian Ceremonial Fraternal KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS Dress Sword with Scabbard, Circa 1864. This is The Earliest Knights of Pythias Sword I Have Seen, Which Dates from the Start of the Organization in 1864. This Has a Wire Wrapped Leather Covered Wood Handle with Brass Oval Badge with Patriotic Eagle Cross Guard with a Flags on Either Side, in High Relief. The Knuckle Guard Has Crossed Rifles on Each Side. The Blade is Etched with Fancy Designs Including FCB and Knights of Pythias. There is No Maker's mark, As Pictured. This Has a Brass Pommel with Patriotic Eagle on the Side. The Scabbard is a Painted Steel Scabbard with Brass hardware, with Fancy Brass Tip with Star on One Side, and Eagle on the Other! The Sword measures approx. 35 1/2" Long with a 30" Blade. The Length Of The Sword in the Scabbard is Approx. 36 3/4" Long. This is Over One Hundred Fifty Years Old, and in Good Original Condition with Normal Wear From Age, and a Nice Aged Patina, Click and Enlarge Photos for Details.
